Á la Carte Returns!

recipes, cocktails, & some inspiration for the dog days of summer

Welcome to this episode of À la Carte for The Layman Chef Podcast! I’m back behind the microphone discussing summer recipes to beat the heat (there’s Duke’s mayo involved), $40 cocktails in crystal goblets, the return of Hotel Chelsea, and couple of air conditioned gallery shows to check out between cocktails.

Discussed in this Episode:

Ina Garten’s Shrimp Salad

James Beard Award winning writer Rick Bragg makes me long for the food of the South in My Southern Journey.

Hotel Chelsea returns!

There’s so much more to the famed hotel’s history than Sid & Nancy and Dee Dee Ramone. The Chelsea’s legacy includes the survivors of the Titanic who were housed there in 1912, and literary legends who penned their masterpieces while in tenancy. The energy from many lives lived is palatable when you visit. And now it is once again open to the public.
